The percentage of signed claimants who remain active in a plaintiff firm's docket through a defined milestone—such as case filing, settlement negotiation, or resolution—without withdrawing, becoming unresponsive, or being disqualified. In mass tort intake operations, retention rate is a critical efficiency metric because high attrition between initial sign-up and case activation erodes the return on advertising spend and distorts projected docket value. Firms and co-counsel partners monitor retention rate by tort, lead source, and intake vendor to identify where claimant drop-off occurs and to optimize follow-up protocols accordingly.
