Scholarship terms and conditions
These terms apply to the MTAA Law Student Scholarship and the MTAA Cancer Survivor Scholarship. They are written to be read, not skimmed.
01Sponsor
X Social Media LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as Mass Tort Ad Agency, Winter Garden, Florida ("MTAA"). MTAA is an advertising agency. It is not a law firm, does not give legal advice, and these awards are unconnected to any legal matter, litigation, or client.
02Eligibility
Applicants must be legal U.S. residents, 18 years or older at the deadline, and meet the eligibility stated on the award page. Employees, contractors and owners of X Social Media LLC, and their immediate family members, are not eligible. A previous recipient of an award is not eligible for the same award again. No purchase, subscription or business relationship is necessary to apply or win.
03Application
Applications are accepted only through the form on the award page, before 11:59 PM Eastern on the deadline. Essays must be the applicant's original, unpublished work of no more than 1,000 words. Plagiarized, AI-generated, or substantially reused essays are disqualified. Submitting an application confirms that the information given is accurate.
04Selection
Essays are read blind by a panel of MTAA staff and scored on specificity, honesty and clarity of purpose. The panel's decision is final. Finalists may be asked for proof of enrollment or acceptance and, for the Cancer Survivor Scholarship, a brief written confirmation of diagnosis from a physician or treatment center. Failure to provide requested verification within 14 days forfeits the award.
05Award
One award of $2,500 per scholarship per year, paid by check to the recipient's accredited institution for tuition, fees or required materials. The award is not renewable and cannot be transferred or converted to cash. The recipient is responsible for any tax consequences. If an award cannot be paid to the institution for any reason, MTAA may select an alternate recipient.
06Publicity
With the recipient's permission, MTAA may publish the recipient's first name, school and a short excerpt of the essay on this website. MTAA will not publish an essay in full, nor any medical information, without separate written consent.
07Privacy
Application materials are used solely to select recipients, are not shared with MTAA's clients or any third party, and are deleted within 90 days of the award announcement, except for the recipient's. Applying does not add you to any marketing list. See the privacy policy.
08Changes
MTAA may amend, suspend or cancel an award cycle if it cannot be run fairly. Any change is posted on this page with its date. Questions: jacob@masstortadagency.com.
