Mass Tort Ad Agency · Scholarships
Two $2,500 scholarships, awarded every year since 2016.
One for a student on the way to law school. One for a student who has been through cancer and is still in school. Each takes a single 1,000-word essay, has no fee, and is paid straight to the school.

01Why an ad agency funds scholarships
Mass Tort Ad Agency finds injured people for plaintiff law firms — the clients in talc, Roundup, Camp Lejeune, hair relaxer and the other litigations where a company hurt a lot of people at once. Two things sit at the center of that work: lawyers who chose this field, and people whose lives were rearranged by a diagnosis. These awards started in 2016 under our former name, X Social Media, as a way to put something back toward both. They have been listed by Berkeley Law, UC Berkeley's Scholarship Connection, AccessLex and other financial-aid offices since.

Both awards are open to students nationwide and run on the same dates each year, so a listing stays accurate. The text below is written to paste directly into an outside-scholarship page; a machine-readable version is at /scholarship/listing.json. 03How selection works
Essays are read by Jacob Malherbe, founder of Mass Tort Ad Agency, and two members of the team. Names and schools are removed before reading. We score on specificity, honesty and the clarity of the plan — not on polish, and not on whether the applicant has any interest in our industry. One recipient per award per year; finalists may be asked for proof of enrollment and, for the cancer survivor award, a brief physician's confirmation of diagnosis. Full terms and conditions.
Mass Tort Ad Agency is an advertising agency, not a law firm, and these awards are unconnected to any legal matter or client. Applying does not create any relationship with MTAA or its clients, and application materials are used only to select recipients.
